BAUTEC is a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering firm located in Charlotte, NC. With over 40 years of combined experience, our emphasis is on high quality, intentional designs that enhance the owner’s experience. Behind the Name: BAUTEC

Paying homage to the founding member’s heritage; BAUTEC [ba͜u tĕk] is derived from the German words Bau which means Construction, Building, or Structure and Technik which means Engineering or Technology.

The name was selected for not only its literal meaning which represents the engineering services BAUTEC provides, but also the inspiration drawn from the famous early 20th century German art school, Bauhaus, which is internationally known for its influence on the modern art movement in architecture, interior design, and color theory and whose primary principle was form follows function.

At BAUTEC we provide functional, efficient designs but also believe engineering should complement the architectural design through close attention to detail and being mindful of the visual impact and overall aesthetics of the MEP systems.

Our Founder

Andrew Mohr, P.E.

President

A well-respected leader and design professional, Andrew Mohr’s professional journey set him on a course that made the creation of his own company a natural progression in his career. Mr. Mohr leads a talented team of designers and engineers and is involved with all aspects of the design ensuring each project meets his high standards of excellence.

Graduating from University of South Florida with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Mohr has gained over 17 years of leadership, engineering design, operations, and construction experience across multiple market sectors. Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Mohr was the Director of Electrical Engineering and managed operations for the Charlotte office of a mid-sized full-service engineering firm.

The engineering principles that BAUTEC was built on were passed down over generations from father to son. As a fourth-generation engineer, BAUTEC’s founding member was taught innovative problem solving and the importance of thoughtful, practical design from an early age. These fundamental principles were used to create the building blocks for how BAUTEC operates and approaches each of our clients’ unique challenges. Engineering is not just a learned profession at BAUTEC, it’s hard coded in our DNA.
